THE year 2012 is shaping to be a very challenging one for Sarah Geronimo as she prepares to host her very own weekly show while trying to help manage her family’s new business venture.
In an interview with the pop princes during a thanksgiving party/soft opening of their new
Tentatively titled, Sarah G, Live!, the Sunday musical show is set to premiere this February and is rumored to be replacing Gandang Gabi Vice.
Sarah admits feeling quite nervous about her upcoming show but said she was excited and thankful about being given such an opportunity.
“Siyempre ho, nung una ayoko, natatakot ako, kasi sariling show ko na ‘yon, and it’s going to be a big responsibility for me as an artist.
“Pangalan ko po ang dadalhin ko dito, so ninenerbiyos po ako kasi, siyempre, sariling show na natin ‘to, but I’m very happy with the concept,” the prized Kapamilya talent revealed.
“Still, I consider this a blessing and a challenge for me to grow both as an artist and as a person, so bakit ko tatanggihan?” Sarah added.
It can be remembered that for the longest time Megastar Sharon Cuneta has held the Sunday primetime slot of ABS-CBN—from the musical-variety Sharon Cuneta Show to her talk-variety program Sharon.
Because of the concept of the show, Sarah said she now feels like doing a live weekly live concert at the Araneta, but promises to give her best and make the show as interesting and entertaining as she can.
Asked who she wants as guests for her program, Sarah quickly mentioned her ASAP co-hosts including Martin Nievera and supposed rival, Angeline Quinto. The new host says she also wants to have Anne Curtis, who has an upcoming concert at the Araneta, and her most recent leading man Gerald Anderson.
Although she insists that nothing romantic is going on between them, Sarah, (after much goading by the press), reluctantly admitted that Gerald has gifted her with a Tiffany necklace with a heart pendant for Christmas.
She again later reiterated that she has no time for love at this point in her career.
Apart from her new show, Sarah is also quite excited about her new business venture. The family’s new restaurant, Imo’s Pansit Malabon, is both a shortcut of their last name, “Geronimo” and was also the nickname of her dad during his PLDT days.
Asked why they chose to specialize in Pansit Malabon, Sarah recalled that they used to have a carinderia and sari-sari store when she was younger and her mom’s specialty was Pansit Malabon.
Sarah’s mother Divine, told The Manila Times they want Imo’s to be recognized because of the organic ingredients they use for their dishes. Aside from Pansit Malabon, Divine says the restaurant will offer seafood and meat dishes and specialize in fusion cuisine, but admits that they have yet to finalize the menu.
