The Nlex Road Warriors squandered a lead a big as 24 points in the third quarter but stayed glued in the crunch to survive a fiery charge by Big Chill and win, 69-62, on Thursday to force a deciding Game Three in their PBA d-League Aspirants’ cup semifinal series at the Ynares
Sports Arena in Pasig City.
RR Garcia struggled with his offense but made the shot that mattered with a lay-up with 3:08 remaining that set off a 13-5 windup by the top-seeded Road Warriors.
Last game of the series is set on Tuesday also at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Ian Sanggalang showed the way for Nlex with 21 points on 10-12 shooting.
Garcia finished with 15 points despite going 5 for 22, including one of 10 from behind the arc. Clifford Hodge tallied 11 points and had 12 rebounds and Garbo Lanete contributed 10 points for the Rod Warriors, who beat the Super Chargers for the first time in three games this conference.
The Super Chargers, who routed the Road Warriors, 83-66, in Game 1, had trouble with their offense in the first half. They made just 6 of 32 attempts from the field (18 percent) and Nlex capitalized on it.
