Four cited in Prima Annual Awards

MANILA, Philippines - Promising athletes Kevin Cudiamat, Nina Carmela Zamora, Kenneth Chua and Jerich Farr received Athletes of the Year citations in the 2011 Annual Team Prima Awards Night last month in DasmariƱas Village, Makati.

Cudiamat won the male badminton athlete- of-the-year award and Zamora gained the female
athlete citation while Chua earned the junior athlete award and Farr won the award for cycling and mountain bike.

“We are so proud and thankful to our long time benefactor Alex Lim for supporting us all the time,” said Cudiamate, the 18-year-old national player and Far Eastern University standout, who won the most events in the four legs of PbaRS competitions nationwide.

The 13-year-old Zamora, who won the badminton Palarong Pambansa National Capital Region qualifying this year, said the award inspires him to excel in her bid to become a national player someday. She also ruled the third national Alabang Town Center Invitational.

Last year Chua reigned in the Asian University Bowling Championship, the Manila Tenpin Bowling Association Open Challenge and the National Youth Championship that also made him the Prima junior bowler of the year.

Alexis Sy took the Prima bowling junior girls honor. Teen cyclist Jerich Farr, who recorded 19 first place finishes last year, pocketed the Prima Cycling award for winning a gold medal in the Singapore Open last July in the mountain bike category. He also finished fourth in the Asia Pacific Downhill Challenges last November in Indonesia.

“It’s already 15 years since we started Team Prima and I’m so happy that we developed a lot of national athletes in badminton and bowling,” said Team Prima chairman Alex Lim, who supported at least one hundred athletes.

Other awardees were 2010 Asian Games gold medalist and 2011 World Cup fifth placer Biboy Rivera (Senior Prima bowler), Girlie Solis (senior women’s bowler), Clarence Tiu (Cebu men’s bowler) and Sam Lagcao (Cebu ladies bowler).
