MANILA, Philippines – The shoot has yet to commence but it seems almost everyone is already caught up in the "Bourne Legacy" frenzy.
Renner now in Manila?
The movie's lead actor Jeremy Renner is reportedly already in Manila, billeted at The Peninsula Manila in Makati City.
On Friday afternoon, ABS-CBN news anchor Julius Babao reposted a tweet by someone who uploaded a photo of herself with the Hollywood actor.
“It's true Jeremy Renner is here! Lucky Mia! RT @miacarmella Photo: I met Jeremy Renner at Manila Pen http://tmblr.co/ZP_8txEJ_wp8 thanks @SamKace,” read Babao’s tweet.
Earlier, Renner was rumored to have been injured in a “bloody” bar fight at a resort in Phuket, Thailand. His publicist denied this, saying in a statement, “Jeremy Renner was indeed in a bar in Phuket Thailand as a vicious attack on a patron took place but was not injured or involved. He exited as the fight took place.”

Casting call for local extras a hoax
Casting calls purportedly looking for Filipino extras for the Metro Manila shoot of Hollywood film “Bourne Legacy” are untrue.
In a report by GMA News Online on Jan .6, the movie’s Philippine producer Lope ‘Jun’ Juban Jr. belied that they were looking for, as mentioned on onlocationvacation.com, “1000 CROWD [members] (Class B and below — C, D, etc) for this film.”
A separate casting call from Casting Calls Manila for “stand-in Talents for Lead Hollywood actor Jeremy Renner and Rachel Weisz,” is likewise untrue.
According to Juban, the alleged talent coordinator identified only as Oghie in the fake casting call is not part of their staff. Oghie had apparently claimed earlier that he is a “sub-agent” of one Armand Gutierrez.
“…the film only has one casting contact.  Juban identified the contact simply as Julie—with whom they have had a working relationship spanning more than two decades,” GMA News Online said.
Citing Juban, the same source added, “If the film would ever need many extras, Juban said they will tap those already on location because those persons would be familiar with the immediate environment and will act naturally.”
‘Bourne’ Metro Manila shoot still a go
Meanwhile, MMDA belied the rumor that Universal Pictures has canceled the filming of the movie in the country because of its “disappointment with the cleanup of selected shooting locations that the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) bared the other day during an interview.”
On Thursday, MMDA posted on its Twitter account, “There is no truth to the rumor that the ‘Bourne Legacy’ PH shoot has been canceled. The article claiming such is a satirical blog.”
The false report, according to sowhatsnews.wordpress.com, came from a press statement.
Tolentino was even quoted as saying on said website, “I think they selected Pasay Taft Rotonda. Magulo talaga ang area. So it’s about time that we redo the area because it will be shown worldwide. So it’s an eye-opener for us na ayusin namin ang Pasay-Taft Rotonda.”
In another part of the article, Tolentino, after “sensing the irony to what they did,” allegedly said, “Baka dagdagan pa namin yung kalat dun sa mga lugar kung gusto nila, para maengganyo ulit.”
The story also cited an “insider” from Universal who purportedly said, “They could’ve chosen another country if they wanted a clean environment to shoot at.”
The MMDA has already confirmed the shooting locations to be Ayala Avenue, Intramuros, Jones Bridge, Marikina City Market, Navotas Fishport, and Pasay Taft Rotonda in Metro Manila, as well as Palawan. In an interview with dzBB on Thursday, Metro Manila police head Chief Superintendent Alan Purisima said that the movie’s producers haven’t contacted them yet regarding their shooting schedules.
PH celebs to join ‘Bourne’ shoot
In a separate report by on abs-cbnnews.com posted on Friday, Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Francisco Tolentino, without dropping names, revealed that some Filipino celebrities will be part of the film.
"Ang alam ko po ay mayroon pong ilan tayong mga artistang makakasama din pero hindi ko pwedeng ma-disclose.
“Lahat ng settings ay well prepared na po. Nagulat nga po ako, akala ko ngayon lang sila magpi-prepara tapos na po ang preparation at ilalabas na lang 'yan,” he added.
Tolentino also said that the houses to be used for indoor shots are already done.
“Tahimik po pati ang mga barangay officials ay tahimik din po na tapos na pala ang mga ‘yon before the Christmas season na nakumpuni na yung mga barangay hall,” he was quoted as saying, adding that the movie’s camera crew is already in the country while a group from “Entertainment Tonight” will follow sometime soon.
More, the MMDA chair assured that they have already formulated contingency plans and that based on the script, the movie will show the Philippines in good light.
The target worldwide playdate for “Bourne Legacy,” according to Tolentino, will be in August 2012.
