Uge prioritizes ‘Shake, Rattle & Roll 13’

“I owe Mother Lily and Roselle a lot dahil sa trust and support na nadama ko sa kanila sa aking career,” says Uge

THE year 2011 has been a fruitful one for multi-awarded and box-office comedienne Eugene Domingo. She opened the year with an explosive performance in “Gunaw,” an episode in My Valentine Girls opposite screen heartthrob Richard Gutierrez, followed by the equally successful comedies Wedding Tayo, Wedding Hindi and Zombadings: Patayin sa Syokot si Remington.

She also earned the “Reyna ng Indie Movies” tag on the strength of her critically acclaimed role in Ang Babae sa Septic Tank in September’s Cinemalaya Independent Cinemalaya FilmFestival.

Aside from rave reviews and box-office success, Septic Tank also gave Eugene a Cinemalaya Best Actress trophy and the chance to be seen in several international film festivals.

It is therefore no wonder that she was cast in three different Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entries this year, namely, My Househusband: Ikaw Na!, Enteng ng Ina Mo, and Shake, Rattle & Roll 13; so much so that the week in showbiz began with the question, “Which float will Eugene Domingo go on, come the Parade of Stars on December 24?”

Her answer is: Shake, Rattle & Roll 13 (SR&R13). Eugene serves as the flag bearer what is touted as the biggest and most expensive outing of the annual horror flick from Regal Entertainment. She therefore vowed to prioritize and support her SR&R 13 producers, the mother and daughter tandem of Lily and Roselle Monteverde.

“Mas pinili kong sumakay sa float ng Shake, Rattle & Roll sa Parade of Stars sa December 24 dahil gusto kong suklian ang halagang ibinigay sa akin ni Mother Lily at Roselle Monteverde. Hindi sila nag-atubiling gastusan ang episode ko kahit one-third lang ito sa kabuuan ng pelikula.”

Eugene stars in what she describes as a “death defying” role in the episode “Rain, Rain, Go Away!”

Eugene added that director Chris Martinez did a great job on her episode, which also stars Jay Manalo, Edgar Allan Guzman and Boots Anson-Roa.

“Kaya ihanda na ng manonood ang kanilang sarili sa nakagigimbal na mga eksena sa ‘Rain, Rain, Go Away!’ mula sa simula hanggang sa pagtatapos ng pelikula,” she beamed with pride.

Completing the SR&R 13 trilogy is Director Jerrold Tarog’s Parola, starring Kathryn Bernardo, Sam Concepcion, Louise de los Reyes, Hiro Magalona, Dimples Romana, Julia Clarete, Inah Raymundo and Julia Clarete; and Tamawo, featuring Zanjoe Marudo, Maricar Reyes, Celia Rodriguez and Bugoy Carino, under award-winning production designer-director Richard Sommes.

SR&R 13 hits theaters on December 25. Watch the official trailer on YouTube or Regal Multimedia Inc.’s Facebook fan page.
