MANILA, Philippines – Even before she got into a court battle with talent manager Annabelle Rama, Nadia Montenegro was aware of what she was getting herself into but she still pushed on for her daughters sake.

On Tuesday, Rama and Montenegro met face-to-face at the Quezon City Regional Trial Court (QCRTC) for the preliminary probe of the libel case filed by the latter against the former. The case is said to have stemmed from the series of alleged malicious and defamatory comments--reportedly pertaining to Montenegro--made by Rama on TV and on her official twitter account (@annabellerama2).
Their fast-escalating row began two months ago when Montenegro accused the Gutierrez matriarch of abusing her [Nadia's] children, Alyanna and Annika, both minors who are her [Rama's] wards. It's because of this that the former actress decided to file child abuse, oral defamation and falsification of documents cases against Rama, Montenegro said.
Inside the fiscal’s office
On the day of the preliminary investigation, Rama was said to have gone ballistic over what she claims are out-and-out "lies" peddled by Montenegro's camp against her.
While the feisty talent manager took to Twitter to vent her disgust over the encounter, Montenegro believes Rama's actions were not only inappropriate but unnecessary.
Asked what could’ve triggered Rama’s outrage, she replied, "Hindi ko alam."
Nadia said that if there's anything that Rama's outburst "proved," it's that she was truly "unfit" to manage her [Nadia's] kids.
Additional evidence
Aside from the preliminary proceedings, Montenegro said she went to court in order to present additional pieces of evidence on the cases against Rama. Their new set of evidence, as said in the report, includes text messages supposedly sent to her by Rama and by her children, one of whom was said to be from TV host Richard Gutierrez.
More, she said that they came to file for a motion demanding Rama to present an original copy of her daughters contracts with her so that the National Bureau of Investigation could "investigate" it.
Quit attacking, start answering
Kasi wala pa siyang sinasagot kahit isa, e," Montenegro said of the ever-so bold Rama.
Fearless as she seems to be, Montenegro says she never imagined this whole thing to spin out of control like it did.
Alam naman natin lahat, hindi naman tayo tanga," she maintained without really explaining what she meant.
She insists that she won’t back down against Rama no matter what.
"Alam mo, ang akin lang, I'm here dahil gusto ko lang sabihin na hindi ako duwag. I'm here, haharapin ko lahat hanggang sa dulo,” said she.
"Hindi madali yung mga pinagdadaanan namin. Sobra nang sakit, pero gusto ko, pag nawala man kami bukas ni Boy [Asistio, her husband] sa mundong ito, mga anak ko, matututong lumaban. Hindi magpapaapi kahit kanino,” Montenegro stated.
