Joem still misses ex-girlfriend Meryll more than a year after their split
MANILA, Philippines – Actors Joem Bascon and Meryll Soriano have not yet talked to each other since 2010 when they ended their close to two-year relationship.
“Wala na. Kasi siguro yun ang napag-usapan na kapag wala na kami, huwag muna kaming mag-usap...parang gano'n 'ata,” Joem admitted in an interview with PEP posted on Dec. 1.
Apparently, the actor is also no longer in contact with Meryll’s family.
He explained, “Kasi, ayaw mo nang maalala, e. Kumbaga, pag may nakita kang isang bagay, parang hangga't maaari, ayaw mo nang maalala.”
Recall that in October 2010, Meryll opened up in an interview with "Paparazzi" about the breakup, saying her studies in a fashion school in London caused it.
For his part, Joem said in the same PEP interview that her education was “part of the decision to let go of each other” because “hindi talaga namin kaya yung long-distance relationship.” He also shared that Meryll goes back to the country from time to time for vacation breaks.
Asked why they really broke up, the actor said, “May mga bagay kasi na ano, e, hindi nagtutugma. So, you have to...alam mo yun?
“Siguro hanggang doon lang, hindi natin puwedeng pilitin, e. Baka pag pinilit mo, mas pangit yung kalalabasan,” said he.
Despite being in a happy relationship with a non-showbiz girl for 11 months now, Joem admitted that he still misses the company of his “kalog” ex-girlfriend.
The actor is more focused on work these days.
“Kasi dati, parang dun lang halos umiikot yung mundo ko. Pero ngayon kasi, you have to focus. Ang dami na kasing artista. Baka mapag-iwanan tayo, kailangang sumabay,” he said.
Meanwhile, Joem debunked the rumor romantically linking him to his manager-director Jerry Sineneng. Recall that there was a time when Joem faced issues questioning his sexuality, but the actor simply brushed them off.
“Nanay ko yun [Jerry]!” the actor said.
Although he felt “bad in a certain way,” Joem said that the rumor also made him “feel good [dahil] siyempre pinag-uusapan. Kumbaga, at least, I'm part of the industry na.”
However, the rumor did not affect his relationship with Jerry.
“Naging mag-best friend pa kami, mas naging mag-nanay," Joem told PEP.
