MANILA, Philippines – The Philippines now has 20 gold medals in the 26th Southeast Asian Games (SEAG), thanks to the national bridge team.
The Filipino bridge team won the country’s only gold medal on Friday by placing first in the mixed event.
This brought the Philippines' total medal count to 20 gold, 34 silver and 48 bronze medals.
The Philippine contingent remains in 6th place in the overall medal tally.
Indonesia is virtually untouchable with 122 gold, 90 silver and 83 bronze medals. Vietnam is at a distant 2nd with 71-67-68, followed by Thailand with 68-64-76.
Malaysia is 4th with 40-40-54, while Singapore is 5th (32-38-61).
Completing the list are Laos (20-34-50), Myanmar (4-15-24), Cambodia (3-10-15), Brunei (0-1-7) and Timor Leste (0-0-1).
