MANILA, Philippines – Actress Ruffa Gutierrez, who watched the Pacquiao-Marquez bout live at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada, Saturday (Sunday, Manila time) said she was among the many Filipinos that were jeered at by Mexicans who disapproved of the Filipino boxer’s win.
Gutierrez tweeted her “scary” experience admitting that one Mexican even directly called her a “loser.”
“Inaaway kami ng mga Mexicano!!!!! Stop being sore losers. One guy just yelled at me: LOSER. Sabi! Leaving now. Baka mapaaway pa kami,” she posted.
A little while later, she added, “Ang daming sira ulo plus I need to pee!! Goodness get me outta here!”
Gutierrez wasn’t the only one being hassled by Marquez’ angry compatriots, as made apparent in her next tweet. “Pinoys are being harassed by the Mexicans. Please pray for peace and NO VIOLENCE. Boxing is a sport meant for entertainment.”
Thankfully, the former Miss World beauty made it out of the venue unscathed.
“ Finally escaped the arena & away from the angry Mexicans. Will have dinner now. Starving!” she updated her fans.
Prior to the worried tweets, Gutierrez sounded ecstatic to be watching what she said was an “exciting” fight.
“Bugbugin mo na!!!!!! C'mon Manny!!!!” she tweeted about 21 hours ago.
She went on to quote her mother, feisty talent manager Annabelle Rama, and dad, actor, Eddie Gutierrez, who were watching the game with her.
“@annabellerama2: "Marunong na si Marquez. Natuto na siya!!!" OMG this fight is insaneeeee!! Whoever spent big bucks--super worth it!!”
“Dad: Pagod na si Marquez!!!!!”
She also tweeted about The Pacman’s wife, who was also at ringside. “Jinkee looks sad. :(,” she said.
But in the end, Gutierrez expressed happiness over Pacquiao’s win. She also lauded Marquez for giving the fight with the Filipino champ his best effort.
“Congratulations to Marquez for giving us a good fight! Worth every single penny for those who came all the way here and watched from PPV.”
Gutierrez is not the only local celebrity who went all the way to Las Vegas to witness the much-hyped battle. Among those seen at the MGM Grand Arena, according to a report on Bombo Radyo, were Benjie Paras, couples Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes, Hayden Kho and Vicki Belo, and Cesar Montano and Sunshine Cruz.
