Motive probed

MANILA, Philippines — The Eastern Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (EPD-CIDG) is filing frustrated murder charge against the gunman who allegedly shot and wounded Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) cager Albert Henry “Ali” Peek in Mandaluyong City on November 7.

Senior Supt. Armando Bolalin, chief of the Mandaluyong City Police, said the case is expected to be filed either this week or next week before the Mandaluyong City Prosecutor's Office. He added that once the case is filed in Court and an arrest warrant is issued, police are ready to arrest the suspect, who had already been identified by investigators.
Bolalin added that police is monitoring the movement of the suspect to ensure that he cannot escape. He, however, refused to divulge the suspect’s whereabouts, stressing that once a warrant of arrest is issued, they are ready to arrest him.
Police earlier said the unnamed male suspect was described to be 32-36 years old, between 5'5" and 5'6" tall, weighs about 65 kilograms, with medium built and dark complexion. “Once a case is filed in court and a warrant of arrest is made, we are ready to make the arrest. We are monitoring the movement of the suspect,” Bolalin said.
He said that once under their custody, investigators can determine the motive on why Peek was shot or if there are other suspects involved in the case.
