MANILA, Philippines — Taking the season’s top looks and trends from the runways into ensembles fit for the Holidays, Shangri-La Plaza recently unveiled its 2011 Holiday Fashion Show at the mall’s Grand Atrium to usher in the much anticipated, most fashionable, season of the year.
Dubbed as “Retail to Runway”, this year’s collection was a sartorial showcase in partnership with stylists Ferdi Salvador and John Lozada of the F.A.S.H. team, Metro magazine’s fashion editor Mela de Luna, and MEGA Magazine’s fashion editor Angela Alarcon.
“In fashion shows abroad, all the collections seen on the runway are previews of what will be available in the stores for the next season. We titled this collection as such because we’re doing the opposite of that. We put together everything that’s available in our store, get the top style teams in the country and come out with a fashion event for our mall guests,” said Marline Dualan, Shangri-La Plaza’s division manager for marketing.
Classic, classy and sexy were the pegs of the collection’s three segments, Street Luxe, Eclectic Vintage and Luxury that featured key holiday pieces from participating brands: Accessorize, Anthem, A/X, Bauhaus, Bergamo, Bossini, Celine, CMG, Crossings Department Store, Daniel Hechter, Debenhams, Diesel, Furla, Gap,
Izod, K & Co., Kenneth Cole, Mango, Marks & Spencer, Massimo Dutti, Michael Kors, Mico Boutique, M)Phosis, Nautica, Original Penguin, Pab Der Uomo, Raoul, Rustan’s Department Store, The Travel Club, Topshop, Warehouse and Zara.
For Ferdi Salvador and John Lozada’s Street Luxe segment, comfort is the key to functional fashion. With their casual yet holiday-ready range of utilitarian outfits skillfully styled through smart layering, color blocking, mixing and matching and accessorizing, both showed how ease of style can be achieved by fusing rack-relevant separates with statement pieces.
Next on the runway were standout statements put together by Mela de Luna for Eclectic Vintage. The trendy anthology of looks was a fitting ode to the holiday trends from fashion capitals all round the globe.
Taking inspiration from the ‘60s and ‘70s fashion, key pieces like fur coats, swing coats and capes paired with sheer tops and accessorized with hats and scarves, gave cozy and comfy a sexy and chic spin via runway-worthy combinations that utilize varying cuts and silhouettes.
And, as a fitting finale, a concoction of lavish and opulent holiday looks took center stage with Luxury styled by Angela Alarcon. Boasting eclectic and glamorous combinations fit for the merry season, the series gave holiday dressing an indulgent and fashion-forward spin with pieces that easily go from day to night, from office to Christmas parties.
“This annual Holiday Show is an opportunity for us to be able to highlight the holiday collections of our retail partners and at the same time to be able to give our patrons some style suggestions and style options for the coming Holidays,” said Dualan.
