MANILA, Philippines – The mother of slain Ramgen Bautista on Friday admitted that in these trying times, she needs the help of the family patriarch Ramon Revilla Sr., father of her 9 children.
In an exclusive interview with GMA Network, Genelyn Magsaysay said that although she is ready to face the allegations against her family, particularly against her children Ramon Joseph and Ramona, she needs the help of the former senator.
“Huwag kang mag-alala sa amin ngayon dahil matatapang ang aking mga anak at matapang na din ako ngayon. Handa na akong lumaban. Maraming salamat sa iyo at sana maunawaan mo ako dahil napakahirap ng nagiging sitwasyon ko sa ngayon. Hindi ito simple. Ang totoo, gusto kong sabihin sa iyo: Kailangan kita,” she said.
Magsaysay has been the subject of controversy after her posts on social networking site Facebook seemed to point at lack of support from the Revilla patriarch as a possible motive behind the killing of Ram.
"I need to work ASAP so I can have my own, I don't like to hear them saying im a parasite. Before I met him, I'm working already. Now they are telling me I'm a parasite when the allowance that you are giving is not enough for monthly consumption," she posted on Facebook last October 21, days before Ram was murdered.
On Friday, Magsaysay maintained that her family of 9 children has not been receiving enough financial assistance from Ramon Sr.
She also dismissed reports that Ramon Sr. is providing them a monthly allowance of P1 million.
“Natatawa nalang ako diyan kasi kung may P1 million ako, siguro pupunta ako ng Amerika monthly, punta ako ng Europe o kaya babalik ako ng Japan,” she said.
Magsaysay noted, however, that although money has been a problem in their family, it is not enough to cause a rift between the siblings.
“Nagkakaintindihan kami sa bahay. May kanya-kanyang allowance ang mga bata. May kanya-kanyang panggastos, so walang inggitan,” she said.
Magsaysay also confirmed reports that her credit card debt reached P2 million. It's a debt, she claims, that has already been paid for.
“It was Ramgen’s idea na ipa-restructure [‘yung debt] dahil lumiliit nga ‘yung allowance. I have to use my credit cards. That’s my option. As a wife, I have the right to get support from the husband,” said Magsaysay.
Ramon Sr. has at least 72 children with several women, including Magsaysay.
RJ, Ramona's innocence
Magsaysay maintained that her 18-year-old son Ramon Joseph and 22-year-old daughter Ramona are innocent.
“May tiwala po ako kay Ramona at kay Ramon Joseph. Matatalino po ang aking mga anak,” she earlier said.
Both Ramon Joseph and Ramona have been tagged as the masterminds in the murder of their own brother.
“Kung idadawit nila kami, lalong magkakaroon ng madaming loopholes. Kasi wala kami sa scene. The more na dina-drag nila ang pangalan namin, the more lang silang nagcre-create ng gulo sa pamilya,” she said.
Senator Ramon “Bong” Revilla Jr. earlier admitted that there is tension between his side of the family and Magsaysay’s, after he allowed police to arrest his half-brother Ramon Joseph.
The senator initially insisted on the innocence of his half-siblings, but changed his stance after Ramona suddenly left the country for Turkey last week.
He had said that Ramona’s flight was a “sign of guilt.”
Meanwhile, Magsaysay revealed that they have abandoned their home in BF Homes, Parañaque for her family’s safety.
“As per the advice ng mga anak ko, ako gusto ko maging matapang at harapin. Pero ang situation [ngayon ay kailangan] proteksyon naman po para sa aking mga anak dahil hanggang ngayon ay hindi pa nahuhuli ang tunay na killer,” she said.
Ram was murdered on October 28 inside the Magsaysay home in BF Homes. His girlfriend Janelle Manahan was shot in the face but survived.
Ramon Joseph is currently detained at the Parañaque City Jail while Ramona is in Turkey with her husband.
Police are still searching for 3 other suspects identified as Glaiza Vista, Norwin dela Cruz and an alias “Bryan.”
Message for Ram's girlfriend
Magsaysay expressed concern for Ram’s girlfriend, who underwent facial surgery after sustaining gunshot wounds to the face.
“Sana gumaling ka na. Sana huwag ka magkaroon ng depression. Gusto ko sabihin sa iyo, nandito ako ngayon, sana magturingan pa rin tayong pamilya kahit wala na si Ramgen kasi isa kang alaala ni Ramgen na hindi pwedeng mawala sa puso ko,” Magsaysay said.
Manahan is currently recuperating at a Muntinlupa hospital.
P500,000 reward
Senator Bong Revilla gave the go-signal to the Department of Interior and Local Government on Friday to release the P500,000 bounty he put up in connection with the murder of his half-brother Ram.
The reward was offered to anyone who can pinpoint those involved in the death of Ram and the attempted murder on Manahan.
Police said that among those eligible for the reward money is star witness Ruel Puzon.
Puzon was the one who named Ramon Joseph and Ramona as masterminds in the crime.
However, Revilla's spokesman Atty. Jeffrey Zarate stressed that the senator's decision to award the bounty doesn't mean they are already contented with the result of the police's probe.
In a text message sent to ABS-CBN News, Zarate said “it’s too early for us to make a conclusion. We want the investigation to continue and to ferret out the whole truth based on the evidences that are still coming in.” -ABS-CBN
