West Virginia Vs. Syracuse: Orange Pull The Upset, Drop 'Eers 49-23

The Big East was turned on its head on Friday as Rutgers and West Virginia were both toppled.

Syracuse Vs. West Virginia Final Score: Orange Pull The Upset, 49-23

It wasn't pretty for Dana Holgorsen's squad on Friday night as his West Virginia Mountaineers traveled to Syracuse and left with their tail tucked between their legs. It was a drubbing at the Carrier Dome as the Orange raced out to the halftime lead and never let up, easily handling the Mountaineers in a 49-23.

It was never particularly close as Syracuse exploited the Mountaineers defense all night while shutting down Holgorsen's high-powered offense. The Orange were able to pressure Geno Smith from all angles throughout the game, leaving him flustered and forcing him into mistakes. Smith finished with 336 yards and two touchdowns, but also threw two interceptions.

Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib, on the other hand, was strong throughout, throwing for 230 yards and four touchdowns. Antwon Bailey carried the ball 22 times for 125 yards and a touchdown to lead all rushers. Nassib also scored a touchdown on the ground.

With the loss, West Virginia fell to 5-2 on the season and 1-1 in the Big East. One undefeated team remains and it's Cincinnati. Just as we all predicted.
