(CNN) -- Gunmen dressed in black targeted two cars
at an airport in northwest Honduras, killing six and leaving four
injured, authorities said.
Police are investigating the attack at the parking lot of the Ramon Villeda Morales International Airport in San Pedro Sula.
Eight men dressed in black arrived at the parking lot checkpoint in
two vehicles Friday evening, said Darwin Ismael Garcia Nunez, head of
airport security.
The men intercepted and forced a group of three people out of a first vehicle, he said.
In the first incident, two men died and a woman was injured. Two
weapons, presumably from the victims, were found next to the bodies,
police said.
The gunmen then approached a second car also leaving the airport, pulled the passengers out and shot them, authorities said.
In the second incident, four men died and three were injured.
Security exchanged gunfire with the attackers, who then fled, Garcia said.
Police are interviewing witnesses and reviewing security cameras to determine whether the victims were traveling together.
